Reiki is a form of energetic bodywork that originated in Japan. Reiki translates to Universal Life Force Energy. This “Universal Life Force Energy” is channeled through the practitioner to promote balance and well-being. The practitioner, who has undergone training and received attunements, places their hands lightly on or near the recipient’s body. The goal is to facilitate the flow of energy and remove any blockages, which is believed to encourage the body restore itself on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
During a Reiki session, the recipient remains fully clothed and may be seated or lying down. The practitioner uses various hand positions, focusing on specific areas or energy centers known as chakras. The energy transferred is thought to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural processes for restoring health.
Reiki is not affiliated with any religious belief, and it is often viewed as a complementary therapy to conventional medical treatments. Many people seek Reiki services for relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. While the effectiveness of Reiki is subjective and varies from person to person, some individuals report positive experiences and a sense of improved balance and harmony after receiving Reiki sessions.
Distance Reiki can also be performed remotely at any distance if the practitioner has been attuned to Reiki II or above. The practitioner will scan the recipient’s body for any imbalances or blockages. This is usually performed while the client is sitting or lying down quietly while on the phone with the practitioner. Many clients report feelings of peace and relaxation while others feel sensations of tingling or warmth. What is felt is very individual while some may not sense anything physically.
